STATEMENT: The VIE Project, July 2025 • Posted by The VIE Project • 13/07/2025
The VIE Project is shutting down on the 20th of July 2025.
How will this affect our products?
No versions of VIE-DOS will be supported after the 20th of July 2025, but users are free to download VIE-DOS from The Second Archives, which will be the new home page for this website. At some point in the near future, the VIE-DOS Integrated Experience (VDIX) servers may be shut down, causing instability or crashes in newer VIE-DOS versions. (This also means no new applications can be added to the VIE-DOS 7 Library) If this is the case, and if there's demand for it, we may release an open-source version of VIE-DOS 7, with telemetry and VDIX features removed or modified, and developers will be free to build on top of VIE-DOS.
Viescros will no longer be available to download, and all existing download links have been destroyed.
VIE Internet 3 Beta (06/05/2022) and VIE Internet 4 (21/02/2024) will not be released.
Pygros (08/11/2023) and Pygros 2024 (04/05/2024) will not be released.
EBJB Games will receive full rights to own the VIE Game Rating (VGR) Index.
VIE-DOS usage data will no longer be recorded for data drops, meaning that VIE-DOS is expected to reach a 0% market share by February 2026.
How will this affect our presence online?
Our Telegram and YouTube channels will still be up but will be vacant. This website will remain up until the domain expires on the 8th of February 2033 at the latest.
How will this affect our subsidiaries?
All subsidiaries of The VIE Project will become independent from us. It is up to them what they decide to do next.
Any subsidiaries who have pages on this website are free to continue using this website until it shuts down, likely when the domain expires.
How will this affect partners?
The VIE Project shutting down means partner agreements will end, as there will be no purpose of having them. As our subsidiaries will become independent, any partners who are intending to continue their partnership with our subsidiaries will have to contact them directly instead, as any partnerships between them and our subsidiaries are dependent on an existing partnership with us.
How will this affect users of our products?
As mentioned previously, VIE-DOS will lose all support and our support email will be abandoned. Users can still use these products as long as they still function and meet the user's needs. If there is much demand for an open-source version of VIE-DOS 7 due to VDIX instability issues, we will publish an open source version of VIE-DOS 7.
All forms will be shut down.
The current home page will be replaced with The Second Archives, where you can access all existing versions of VIE-DOS and view statements made prior to the 20th of July 2025.
